LEESBURG, VA — A Fairfax County man visited a home in the Barclay Woods community south of Leesburg several times on Saturday before he ended up fatally stabbing a 46-year-old man at the house early Sunday morning, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Monday afternoon.

Other than an interaction on Saturday between the suspect, Melvin H. Wasike, 22, and the victim, Michael Fadely of Leesburg, the Loudoun sheriff’s office has not been able to make any further connections between the two men or the residence in the 40800 block of Newton Place in Loudoun County.

A second victim inside the home, whose name is not being released, was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.

According to the LCSO, Wasike forced his way into the home around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday when he killed Fadely and injured the other person.

On Saturday, an LCSO deputy was called to the home in the 40800 block of Newton Place after a man, later identified as Wasike, had come to Fadely’s residence multiple times and claimed to be looking for someone at the residence, the sheriff's office said.

The LCSO deputy stayed near the residence in case Wasike returned to the home. Wasike once again returned to the area in a vehicle on Saturday and was stopped by the deputy. He was identified and questioned by the deputy at that time.

At the request of the homeowner, the deputy advised Wasike to leave the property and not return. He left the area. The deputy along with the homeowner checked the perimeter of the home and other security measures to ensure the residence was secure, the LCSO said Monday

During its investigation into Fadely’s death, the LCSO learned that Wasike had gone to other homes in the area on Saturday, claiming to be looking for someone who lived in that area.

After authorities served a search warrant at his family’s home in Fairfax County on Sunday afternoon, Wasike called the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center to turn himself in.

But Wasike disconnected the call and turned off his phone before providing further details as to his location, according to the LCSO.

Nonetheless, the sheriff’s office was able to find Wasike in a vehicle in the area of Foxden Lane, about a mile east of where Fadely was killed, and took him into custody without further incident.

Wasike was arrested Sunday afternoon on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and breaking and entering while armed with intent to commit murder, the LCSO said. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
