Two Pedestrians Struck by SUV Near Shopping Center
Both airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, say Leesburg police.

Two pedestrians have been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening while crossing a shopping center access road, according to Leesburg police.
The police did not release the names of the victims or the driver of the SUV that hit them.
At 7:22 p.m. Tuesday, police officers were dispatched to the Middleburg Bank, 538 Fort Evans Road NE, for a report of two pedestrians who had been struck by a vehicle.

They found out that a 2013 Toyota SUV driven by a 41-year-old Leesburg man had traveled northbound on Battlefield Parkway. The SUV then turned left into the shopping center and struck two pedestrians as they were crossing the access road, the police said.

The victims, a 60-year-old male and a 55-year-old female, suffered head and torso injuries, police said. A medical helicopter flew both victims to the INVOA Fairfax Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police said. One lane of Battlefield Parkway was closed for about an hour during the police investigation.
The crash remains under investigation, and the Leesburg Police Department is asking that anyone who witnessed this event to call (703) 771-4500.
