
Alex Walid Kasm, owner of ALL FLOORS in Reston, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his sleep January 31, 2015. Alex / Walid was born November 4, 1949 (recorded as November 16, 1949) in Damascus, Syria to parents Zuher Al Kasm and Sabahat Al Ajlani. As Syria had a history of French occupation, Walid attended French Catholic schools and spoke fluent French. He later attended Engineering College in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1970 he immigrated to the United States, sponsored by his uncle and aunt, Ike and Dorothy Ajlani, in Gainesville, Florida where he attended Santa Fe Community College. He lived in Florida, California, Texas, and New York before coming to Virginia in the 90s. For several years he made a life with Terrie McClure of Manassas, Virginia and her two daughters. He is survived by his daughter, Hana Kasm and 3-year-old granddaughter, Stevie Angela Kasm Sand of Missoula, Montana, his daughter Tala Marie Kassm of Louisville, Kentucky, his mother Sabahat, his sister Wafa Kasm, and brother-in-law Raghid Obeid of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, his brother Wahib (Bill) Kasm of Las Vegas, Nevada, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends around the country and around the world. Alex Walid Kasm had a traditional Islamic burial at AMAA Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, Virginia.
