Fire Damages Manassas-Area Commercial Building

Electrical problem caused blaze, says Prince William fire department.

A fire that broke out in an electrical room Tuesday damaged a commercial building north of Manassas, according to the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department.

At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the building in the 8500 block of Sudley Road (Route 234), the fire department said.

Upon arrival, they discovered the fire in the building’s electrical room. The firefighters extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries reported.

According to the county Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damage to tne building is estimated at $15,000. An electrical problem caused the blaze, and it has been determined to be accidental.

NOVEC secured the building’s electrical service, and a county building official posted the electrical room as unsafe, the fire department said.
