Fundraiser Hopes To Support Family Of Accidental Shooting Victim

On Saturday, a Manassas man was killed in an accidental shooting. A GoFundMe is now raising money to help his family bury him.

MANASSAS, VA — On Saturday, 21-year-old Reynaldo Jesus Villalobos Hernandez was fatally injured in an accidental shooting in Manassas. Now, his family has started a GoFundMe to cover the cost of his burial.

Villalobos Hernandez moved to the U.S. about 18 months ago to pursue a better life, his aunt Maria Hernandez said on the fundraiser's webpage.

"He was a good, cheerful, hard-working, sociable, positive boy full of life and dreams and goals to achieve," Hernandez said of her nephew.

Hernandez noted that Villalobos Hernandez left most of his family behind when he moved, but he still tried to help them financially.

"Now the purpose is for him to return to his parents who are devastated and his entire family to be able to say goodbye," Hernandez wrote.

She did not say where her nephew was from, but she emphasized how important it was for his body to be repatriated.

"Please help us with what you can financially but I also ask for your prayers for him and for his parents and siblings," Hernandez said. "I thank you with all my heart."

On Wednesday afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised $3,705 towards its $20,000 goal. More than 50 people have already contributed to the fundraiser.
