Infant Injured After Domestic Assault In Manassas, Suspect At Large: Police

An infant was injured at a Manassas home on Sunday morning. Police said that a man hit a woman and fell onto her infant daughter.

MANASSAS, VA — A baby was injured in a domestic assault in Manassas on Sunday morning, police said. Authorities said a man hit a woman multiple times and fell on top of her infant daughter.

Now, police are looking for Jeffrey Alexander Escobar, a 33-year-old man from Fort Washington, Maryland. Escobar faces charges of domestic assault and child abuse.

The assault occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, police said. At that time, a dispatcher sent officers to a home in the 10800 block of Monocacy Way in Manassas.

A victim, who police identified as a 30-year-old woman, said she had an argument with Escobar that escalated. Authorities claimed that Escobar hit the victim several times.

Escobar then took their infant daughter into another room, according to the police report. He then struck the woman several more times before he fell and landed on the infant girl, police claimed.

Rescue personnel responded and took the child to an area hospital. Authorities said the baby's injuries were not life-threatening. The 30-year-old woman reported minor injuries.

Escobar left the home before police arrived on the scene. After an investigation, the police department obtained warrants for Escobar's arrests. However, authorities have not been able to find him.

He is charged with domestic assault and child abuse. Police described Escobar as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. He has brown eyes and curly black hair.
