Man Attempts to Stab Macy's Employee at Manassas Mall

Prince William County Police are searching for a man accused of shoplifting and trying to stab a Macy's employee at Manassas Mall

Prince William County Police are looking for a man who attempted to stab a Macy’s employee after the suspect was caught shoplifting at the Manassas Mall on Sunday, Nov. 2.

The suspect is described as a white man between 30 and 40-years-old, about 5’8”, 220 pounds, with a heavy build. He is reported to be bald and has a beard.

Police responded to accusations of shoplifting around 12:33 p.m. at the mall, 8270 Sudley Road in Manassas. A loss prevention employee told police that a man entered, took clothing and attempted to leave without paying.

A struggle ensued when a Macy’s employee attempted to stop the man. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly took out a knife and swung it toward the employee. No injuries were reported.

The suspect fled on foot. After searching the area, police officers were not able to find him. He was last seen wearing a tan hooded jacket with a black liner, a black polo shirt with red and white stripes and blue jeans, according to police.

This incident comes only a few weeks after a shoplifting incident turned violent at the same Macy’s. On Oct. 16, Roger Gonzalez, 21, was accused of shoplifting and attempting to bite a security guard who tried to stop him. Gonzalez has since been arrested and is scheduled to appear before court on Nov. 17.
