Manassas Health Inspections: Splash Down Water Park Concessions, Two Brothers Express

The Prince William Health District recorded violations at several locations, including the Splash Down Water Park in Manassas.

MANASSAS, VA — The Prince William Health District recorded violations at several locations around the Manassas area during recent inspections. Officials conducted the most recently published round of inspections between June 29 and July 5.

Most COVID-19 restrictions have relaxed around the state, and health inspectors are returning to conduct many restaurant and other health inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection. Other violations are addressed later, and an inspector may conduct a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.

    • Date inspected: June 29
    • Total violations: 4
      • The establishment could not demonstrate the ability to provide written procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve the discharge of vomitus or fecal matter onto surfaces in the food establishment.
      • Observe a leak in condensation line in walk in cooler. Person in charge explained that she uses the mop to clean daily.
      • Observed a leak at the faucet at 3 compartment sink.
      • Ceiling tile installed in kitchen prep areas, ware washing areas, cooking areas are observed porous and not smooth or cleanable.
  • Two Brothers Express, 9745 Liberia Avenue Manassas, VA 20110
    • Date inspected: June 29
    • Total violations: 10
      • The Person In Charge (PIC) was not able to provide documentation that all food employees or conditional employees were trained and informed of their responsibilities to report symptoms or diagnosis of, or exposure to, diseases transmissible through food.
      • This food establishment has not established written procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that happen in the facility.
      • No hand towels available at either hand sink in kitchen.
      • Signage that notifies food employees to wash their hands was not provided and/or permanently affixed at all handwashing sinks used by food employees.
      • Raw chicken stored adjacent to ready to eat (RTE) tomatoes in 3 door prep/reach-in refrigerator.
      • Interior of ice machine unclean.
      • Spray bottles of chemicals stored hanging on clean equipment shelving over 3 compartment sink subjecting both clean equipment and various foods nearby to possible contamination.
      • White granular food stored in a container that was not labeled properly with the common name of the food.
      • Employees handling food were observed to not be wearing proper hair restraints.
      • There is a "Y" adapter on the faucet at the mop sink that allows 2 hoses to be attached. Mop sink faucet vacuum breakers are not designed for the continuous pressure created by the "Y" adapter/hoses.
  • Splash Down Water Park Beach Break, 7500 Ben Lomond Park Dr Manassas, VA 20109
    • Date inspected: July 1
    • Total violations: 4
      • This food establishment has not established procedures for cleaning up vomiting or diarrheal events that happen in the facility.
      • There is no chemical sanitizing test kit present to ensure the chemical sanitizing solution used is at the proper concentration.
      • Hot water is not available in sufficient quantities to meet the peak hot water demands throughout the food establishment. It was observed at 95*F.
      • Ventilation is not sufficient to keep rooms free of excessive heat.

    • Date inspected: July 1
    • Total violations: 4
      • This food establishment has not established procedures for cleaning up vomiting or diarrheal events that happen in the facility.
      • The handwashing sink is not equipped to provide water at a temperature of at least 100°F through a mixing valve or combination faucet.
      • Observed no water, sanitizing agent, cleaner, or test strips.
      • Hot / Cold water under insufficient or inadequate pressure was found to serve for hand washing.
