Mansassas Police Investigate Door-To-Door Fundraising

MANASSAS, VA — The Manassas Police Department is investigating the legitimacy of a door-to-door fundraising campaign by individuals who are asking for donations on behalf of a group called the Virginia Youth Club of America. The people are distributing a flier that mentions the police department and some of its employees.

The flier's reference to the police department and its staff members, the police said, should not be considered an endorsement of the people soliciting the donations. The department learned Saturday about the door-to-door campaign.

The Manassas police want residents who come into contact with the individuals to call the department at 703-257-8011. The department also reminded residents to verify the legitimacy of charitable organizations before donating money.
