Driver Charged With Homicide In Crash That Killed Pedestrian In Manassas: Police
A woman was charged with homicide in connection with a car crash that led to the death of a pedestrian in Manassas on Monday evening.

MANASSAS, VA — Police in Prince William County claim that a woman who hit a pedestrian in Manassas refused to help the injured man and prevented him from calling 9-1-1, according to a police report. The woman, Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras, has been charged with felony homicide.
The pedestrian, a 74-year-old man from Manassas Park, died on Monday as a result of his injuries, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Police identified the man as Jose Pastor Manzanares.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday, near Centreville Road and Conner Drive in Manassas. Authorities determined that a 2011 Hyundai Sonata was travelling southbound on Centreville Drive when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
"After striking the victim, the accused initially stopped and approached him as he laid injured in the roadway," police said in an update on Wednesday. "When the victim attempted to use his phone, the accused took the phone and threw it, preventing him from calling for emergency services. After throwing the phone, the accused then fled the area, leaving the victim in the street."

Members of the police department found the Hyundai involved in the crash near Burlington Court while they were investigating. They also located a woman who they believe was driving the car at the time of the crash.
The woman was identified as Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras. She was arrested on Monday and charged with felony hit and run and driving without a license. On Wednesday, authorities announced that the woman was later charged with felony homicide and preventing the summoning of law enforcement.
