Police: 7-11 Robbery Suspect Caught on Video
Juvenile arrested after appearing without mask in surveillance footage, say Prince William County police.

Prince William County police arrested a 16-year-old juvenile from Gainesville on Thursday after they said he was identified in a surveillance video taken during the robbery of a 7-11.
Police responded at 3:09 p.m. Thursday to the robbery at the convenience store at 7615 Heritage Village Plaza in Gainesville, according to a Prince William police report. Employees told police that an unknown masked man entered the store and approached the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The man fled the 7-11 with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. No injuries were reported. As police investigated the robbery, a clerk told them that shortly before the robbery, he saw a man wearing the same clothing as the robber, but without the mask.

The police obtained surveillance footage, and investigators were able to develop a possible identity of the suspect as a male juvenile who lived in the area. Detectives from the Police Department’s Robbery Unit made contact with this suspect at his Gainesville residence, according to the police report.
The police then found evidence of the robbery at the suspect’s home after obtaining and executing a search warrant, the report said. Following the investigation, the juvenile suspect was arrested.
The juvenile, whose identity was not released, was charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, the police report said. He’s being held at the Prince William Juvenile Detention Center, and a court date is pending.
