Police: Hotel Guest Winds Up in Handcuffs

Southern Va. man charged with possession of crack cocaine, marijuana, say Prince William County police.

A man from southern Virginia is facing narcotics charges after police officers smelled marijuana smoke coming from his Manassas hotel room, according to the Prince William County police.

Kevin Tyron Thomas, 34, of 1480 Cascade Road in the town of Cascade, has been charged with possession of a scheduled I or II narcotic, possession of a firearm with scheduled narcotics, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a police report. He’s being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail, and his next date in court is Aug. 12.

At 1:22 a.m. Tuesday, the officers were conducting a routine business check at the Days Inn at 7249 New Market Court when they detected an odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms. They made contact at the room and identified the occupant as Thomas, the police report said.

Entering the room, the officers found a handgun and suspected crack cocaine. Thomas was arrested without incident.
