PRTC Bus Driver Assailant Arrested In Manassas: Police

The man who assaulted a PRTC bus driver in September was arrested Wednesday following a dispute with a taxi driver in Manassas: PWC Police.

MANASSAS, VA—The man who assaulted a PRTC bus driver in early September was arrested Wednesday following a dispute with a taxi driver in the area of Lomond Drive and Sudley Road, according to Prince William County Police. Andre Jon Richardson, 30, of no fixed address, was charged with malicious wounding and destruction of property.

Around 10:15 p.m., police went to the aforementioned area for a reported dispute between a taxi driver and a customer. When police arrived, Richardson fled on foot but was caught after a brief pursuit. He then was identified as the man who assaulted a PRTC driver on Sept. 11.

That incident occurred shortly before police responded to the scene for a reported assault. The bus driver, a 55-year-old man, said while driving a Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission vehicle, he saw an unknown man running beside the bus. When the bus stopped because of traffic, the man began banging on the door and demanding it be opened.

When the driver refused, the man stood in front of the bus to prevent it from moving. He then returned to the side of the bus and kicked out a lower window on the door. That let him reach inside and open the door, after which he boarded the bus and sprayed the driver with an unknown substance.

He then got off and fled the area on foot. The driver suffered minor injuries. Police, along with a K-9 unit, searched the area but came up empty.
