'Spirited Tours' in October at the Manassas Museum
Events include the Spirit of Manassas Tours.

October at the Manassas Museum is full of “spirited tours,” a new exhibit and great history.

On Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. the Manassas Museum will host a free book talk by author Douglas Crenshaw on his book, Fort Harrison and the Battle of Chaffin’s Far, To Surprise and Capture Richmond. This book focuses on a single, lesser-known battle during the siege of Petersburg when two Union corps under the command of General Benjamin Butler crossed the James River expecting to overwhelm Robert E. Lee’s army and capture Richmond, VA.

On Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. bring your own bike to tour with the Manassas Museum. The Bicycle Tour begins at the Manassas Museum, is family friendly and covers about four miles.
On Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. the Manassas Museum will host Pre-K Tuesday with storytelling, crafts, songs and outdoor exploration. This event is for 3 to 5 year-olds with a caregiver.

On Oct. 17 at 8 p.m., get in the spirit of the season with the Manassas Cemetery Tour. The tour will explore the final resting place of a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, members of the famed Civil War Prince William Cavalry, and prominent citizens who helped shape the early years of the City of Manassas.
On Oct. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. the Manassas Museum will host Spirit of Manassas Tours. This is a series of tours through the streets of Historic Downtown Manassas led by lantern light with costumed guides. Guests will hear surprising stories, sublime and strange happenings from the past and present, and meet some spirited characters along the way.
October is the last month of the year for Museum at the Market and Historic Manassas Walking Tours. On Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Manassas Museum staff will be at the Manassas Farmers Market with games, artifacts and more. On Thursdays at noon in October the Manassas Museum features walking tours of downtown Manassas where participants will learn the rich historic fabric of downtown, and the people who built it.
