Brentsville Road will be closed to through traffic for six months starting Monday, June 22, to repair and replace the bridge over Broad Run, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

VDOT will host a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting on the bridge project from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chorus Room at Brentsville District High School, 12109 Aden Road in Nokesville.

As part of the bridge project, traffic will be detoured via Lucasville Road, Godwin Drive, Clover Hill Road, Dumfries Road (Business Route 234) and the Prince William Parkway. A map of the detour route can be viewed here.

The existing two-lane bridge was built in 1957. The superstructure has been deemed to be in poor condition and the substructure in fair condition, VDOT said. The project will replace the superstructure with a continuous structure and repair the substructure.

The Brentsville Road closure will last for the duration of the $2.8 million project, which is scheduled for completion in December.
