Manassas Park police announced Wednesday that one of the two 17-year-old male juveniles who caused a two-hour lockdown of Manassas Park schools on Tuesday has been charged with disorderly conduct.
The police seized a rifle-style pellet gun with a scope and several other replica firearms when they took the youth into custody Tuesday, according to a press release from the Manassas Park Police Department. Police detectives were in the process Wednesday of obtaining a petition for felony brandishing on school property for the same juvenile.

The two teens were spotted Tuesday afternoon in the back of Cougar Elementary School. Witnesses reported seeing the pair in possession of what appeared to be a rifle with a scope attached. A bus driver saw them approaching the rear of the school shortly after 3 p.m., just before the dismissal of classes, police said.
As a precaution, Cougar and Manassas Park elementary schools were placed on lockdown, which meant that students, teachers and staff could not leave the schools.
Along with the Manassas Park police, units from the Manassas City Police Department, Prince William County Police Department and Prince William Sheriff’s Office secured the schools and took the suspects into custody. Both elementary schools were released from lockdown at 5:01 p.m.
