Cub Scouts to Hold Sept. 11 Flag Retirement Ceremony

The Pack is still seeking flag donations.

Cub Scout Pack 1372 will hold a flag retirement ceremony on Sept. 11 in Manassas Park.

The United States Code states: 'When a flag is so tattered that it can no longer serve as a symbol of the United States, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.'”

The retirement ceremony will be a place where damaged and worn-out American Flags can be properly retired with all the respect the symbol of our country deserves, Jason Elliott, a spokesman for the scout pack said.

“This is the second year the pack has done this and it is quite the moving and solemn experience for the boys to be part of,” he added.

The ceremony will take place at 9337 Brandon St. in Manassas Park, the home of cubmaster and committee chairperson.
