Aging in Place: home ideas for aging boomers!

In a new video, Francisca Villarroel Alonso talks about smart design for "aging in place" and how to follow her 360 Homes Living philosophy

Watch the video to get more interesting tips on smart design for you dream home as an empty nester!

If you are not ready for a retirement home or an assisted living facility, you can renovate your home or build a new house that serves you as an empty nester. You can retire in your neighborhood, in your home, where your kids grew up, where your friends are.

More and more people are interested in simplified design and that is very much in alignment with our Aging in Place design concept. Homes should be designed to Age in Place. That is with the entrance, main living room, kitchen, family room, and the master suite all on the main floor.

Smart design at that critical point in life should be about having an open floor plan and having it all on one level, but not looking like your living in assisted living. You should feel at home, like you are on vacation all year round!

How can this one-level living design work with your current two-story home? This is where the term Nesting for Empty Nesters comes in. AV Architects + Builders suggests turning the upstairs into a guesthouse, creating the perfect space for when your children come to visit with their spouses and little ones.

In this episode of 360 Homes, Francisca Alonso discusses the different ideas of smart architecture for building a dream home for “aging in place”.
