A preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota sedan had stopped partially in the right-hand lane and on the right shoulder. A box truck that was approaching the stopped sedan from behind attempted to change lanes, but the Toyota suddenly pulled into the travel lane, according to police. The vehicles then collided into each other.

The woman who was driving the Toyota and a 6-year-old boy passenger were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
