Amazon Headquarters Likely Not Coming To Tysons: Reports
Officials have favored another Fairfax County site in the bid for Amazon's new headquarters.

MCLEAN, VA—Time is ticking away as officials look to get proposals in for Amazon's second headquarters by Oct. 19, and Fairfax County is getting in on the bidding war. Tysons Corner would seem like a viable option, as its become one of Northern Virginia's business hubs. But The Washington Post reports that officials have passed on Tysons Corner to focus on a different Fairfax County site.
Fairfax and Loudoun Counties' board of supervisors are eyeing the Center for Innovative Technology, a site on the border of both counties near Dulles International Airport.
A number of Virginia localities have said they would pursue the Amazon HQ. Gov. Terry McAuliffe has not publicly announced support for a specific site.

The second headquarters could bring up to 50,000 jobs to the area. The Post reports the DC area's trained workforce, public transportation and airports make it an appealing option for Amazon. An Innovation Center Metro station is under construction, and a completion date has not been set.
Amazon's current headquarters are in Seattle, so settling in a major East Coast metropolitan area would make sense. Working in Fairfax County's favor is the fact that it is already home to the East Coast campus of Amazon Web Services. The county beat off bids in Texas and Washington state for the project, which will bring 1,500 jobs to the area.

Even without Amazon in the cards, Tysons Corner has more development lined up. A new conference center and Wegmans is coming to the Capitol One Headquarters, while the Scotts Run project will bring more retail, offices and residences to Tysons.
