BASIS Independent McLean Students Support Hurricane Relief Effort
Local McLean Students Raise More Than $900 for Hurricane Relief in Puerto Rico

BASIS Independent McLean (BIM) students of McLean, Va. raised $972.96 for Save the Children’s Hurricane Maria Children’s Relief Fund from its school bake sale and talent/art expo show. BIM seventhgraders, Mason Huiss and Leo Saraf led the hurricane relief fundraising efforts, after presenting the idea to BIM administration. “We are so proud of our students for demonstrating compassion for others and taking the initiative to support Puerto Rico’s hurricane relief efforts,” said Ron Kim, BASIS Independent McLean’s head of
school. “Fundraising programs like this, teach our students the importance of community involvement and leadership,” said Kim.
