Best Times To Visit Tysons Corner Center During 2018 Holidays

Tysons Corner Center becomes busier than ever during the holidays. Here are some tips on the best times to visit and where to park.

TYSONS, VA—The ever-busy Tysons Corner Center becomes busier during the holiday shopping season. Throughout December, millions of shoppers visit Tysons Corner Center, the region's largest mall and home to hundreds of stores. Tysons Corner Center in partnership with Transurban has released some tips to make your shopping experience a little easier.

"Educating our customers on the most convenient travel and parking options only improves the shopping experience," said Tysons Corner Center marketing representative Becca Willcox. "Less time in the car means more time in the Center to enjoy holiday shopping, spend time with family and friends, and get all of the items on your wish lists."

The best time to visit Tysons Corner Center is before noon Mondays though Thursdays from Dec. 10-20. These are the best times to avoid gridlocked roads and crowded parking lots, the mall says in a news release. The mall is expected to become more crowded as schools go on winter breaks from Dec. 21-Jan. 4.

In terms of getting there, the mall has a few suggestions for multiple forms of transportation. The fastest option for drivers is taking the Interstate 495 Express Lanes to Westpark Drive and parking for free in Garage E near Barnes and Noble. In addition, the Jones Branch Connector will open on Dec. 15, connecting the 495 Express Lanes and Jones Branch Drive with Route 123.

Other recommended free parking options are Garages B and C. The mall suggests these garages if you want quick access to roads but don't mind a longer walk into the mall.

Those using ridesharing should ask drivers to drop off at the mall entrances to Rt. 7 or International Drive off Fletcher Street to avoid mall traffic. Visitors can also avoid traffic completely by taking the Silver Line Metro to the Tysons Corner metro stop. Riders exit on the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center side, which is a short walk to the mall.
