Bomb Threat on Silver Line Train Prompted Police K9 Search Tuesday

Authorities determined there was no bomb threat after searching the train, and no injuries were reported.

A bomb threat on a Silver Line train headed for Largo prompted officials to immediately offboard the train for police to search for any threats.

The offboarding and ensuing police sweep caused delays across three Metrorail lines shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

It took less than an hour for K9 units to search the train before police determined there was no bomb threat, according to the Washington Post’s Dr. Gridlock. No injuries were reported.

By Tuesday afternoon, a photo of a bomb threat written on a blank advertisement space on the train circulated around the Internet, marking the cause of the morning delays.
