Brzezinski Family's McLean Property Acquired By Park Authority
The family of the late Zbigniew Brzezinski, former U.S. national security advisor, had lived at the home.

MCLEAN, VA — A historic property in McLean that was home to the Brzezinski family has been bought by the Fairfax County Park Authority.
Located at the intersection of Spring Hill Road and Old Dominion Drive in McLean, it had been home to Zbigniew Brzezinski and his family since 1977. Brzezinski served as national security advisor under President Jimmy Carter and had been a counselor under President Lyndon B. Johnson. He died in 2017. His wife, Emilie Brzezinski, is an artist known for sculpting. One of their three children is Mika Brzezinski, the co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
The home has hosted diplomatic gatherings with foreign leaders. Now with the property being turned over to the park authority, it has potential for a future community park. The property features rolling terrain, informal trails, and level ground.

"I am grateful to the Park Authority for preserving this property, and many other beautiful properties in our county, for the use of current residents and future generations," said Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust in a statement. "I also appreciate the Brzezinski family’s desire to protect the natural beauty and cultural significance of this property, and their willingness to work with the Park Authority to make sure that happened."
The $2.4 million purchase was funded through park bonds. The sale was coordinated with Washington Fine Properties with the deed recorded in October.
