Certain Northern Virginia Liquor Stores Offer Curbside Pickup
A curbside pickup option at select liquor stores is one of the latest changes in response to the new coronavirus situation.
Numerous state liquor stores in Northern Virginia have started offering curbside pickup, according to the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority.
Virginia ABC says customers can order online for same-day pickup if placed at least two hours in advance. Pickup times may be impacted by inventory of selected products at each location.
"Curbside service is one of many modifications we have made to our store operations to ensure customer and employee safety," said Travis Hill, CEO of Virginia ABC. "Customer convenience is always a priority, and we expect to provide this service well after the need for social distancing has subsided."

Virginia ABC had temporarily closed various Northern Virginia stores on April 13 to consolidate operations in support of employees' decisions to self-quarantine. Those dozen stores reopened on May 1.
Liquor stores are considered essential businesses under Gov. Ralph Northam's March 23 executive order, which was extended through the end of May 14. However, all state liquor stores are operating with limited hours from noon to 7 p.m. daily and safety guidelines. The number of customers allowed in the store is limited to 10, and markers encourage customers to stand at least six feet apart from one another. Many stores are providing modified counter service where customers stand at a safe distance from others at the front of the store while ABC employees retrieve products at their request.
Store employees are required to wear face masks, and plexiglas shields are installed at registers. ABC stores undergo daily cleaning and sanitizing with a focus on frequented areas such as checkout counters and employee bathrooms, and high-touch surfaces such as door handles and knobs. Hand sanitizer is available at registers for customer and employee use.
