Ribbon-Cutting in McLean: WashingtonFirst Bank Opens New Branch
Congresswoman Comstock stops by Thursday to help celebrate opening of the newest branch of Washington FirstBank, headquartered in Reston.
Washington FirstBank held a ribbon-cutting for its newest branch office on Thursday in McLean. The bank is located at 1356 Chain Bridge Road in McLean. It is the newest bank in a regional chain that now includes 11 branches in Virginia.
Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-10th), who was just sworn into office this month, stopped by the celebration to help cut the ribbon. Her district includes part of McLean.
The 10th congressional district includes Aldie, Ashburn, Centreville, Chantilly, Clifton, Gainesville, Great Falls, Hamilton, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Manassas, McLean, Purcellville and Waterford. See a district map here.

Also in attendance at Thursday’s ribbon-cutting: Shaza L. Andersen (who is standing to Comstock’s left in photo above), founder and Chief Executive Officer of WashingtonFirst Bank. Andersen has been noted by American Banker as a “Top 25 Women to Watch,” noting about Andersen: “As rare it is to find a bank with a female CEO, it’s even rarer to find a bank founded by a woman.”
Andersen got interested in banking while she was a student at George Mason University, working part-time as a teller, according to a profile in Washington Business Journal. Today she sits on GMU’s School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council.

The bank is headquartered in Reston and is a wholly owned subsidiary of WashingtonFirst Bankshares, Inc.

Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
