MCLEAN, VA — A crash on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in the McLean area injured one person and shut down one direction for hours Thursday, according to U.S. Park Police.

The northbound crash involved two vehicles Thursday evening, Park Police told Patch in an email. One person went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fire department crews were on scene to extricate one person from a vehicle.

The location of the crash was before Route 123. The crash caused the northbound section of the parkway to be closed at Spout Run Parkway from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Park Police attributed the extended closure to additional equipment needed to remove one of the vehicles.
