On Saturday, May 7, 2011, Kent Gardens PTA will host Imagine … a Benefit Auction to raise funds to support a pioneering educational program – STEM – that is transforming the way in which Kent Gardens students at all grade levels learn and apply their learning in creative and innovative ways.
The STEM program is a national education initiative that integrates Science, Math, Engineering and Technology solutions across all core curriculums. This program will provide our students with a learning experience that more systematically helps them develop the critical and creative thinking skills that will prepare them for a world where science and technology define the many ways in which we work and live. Kent Gardens is one of the first elementary schools in Fairfax County to implement the STEM program.
An Investment in Education. STEM skills are no longer just good skills to have, they are increasingly important to a 21st-century education. The increased dependence on technology will require all students to have a solid foundation in the STEM disciplines. This means introducing STEM now to enforce and retain STEM principles throughout your children’s education. Investing in STEM education today will benefit not only our children, but the future of our community.

Proceeds from the Benefit Auction will go directly to support (a) the acquisition of classroom materials and technology, (b) staff training and development, and (c) innovative classroom projects and field trips.
