Together with the McLean High School (MHS) PTSA and MHS Athletic Boosters, the Safe Community Coalition (SCC) will present a panel discussion on “Success and the Student Athlete” that will moderated by USA Today sports columnist, Christine Brennan on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 7pm at McLean High School located at 1633 Davidson Road in McLean, VA.
Parents and students from the entire community are invited to attend and discuss the benefits of participating in recreational and varsity sports; share tips on how to thrive as a student athlete and how to curb the role that drugs and alcohol play in the sports culture, both in celebrations and in using so-called performance-enhancing drugs and supplements.
Sports Equipment Exchange and Collection for Tornado-damaged School

In conjunction with this event, MHS Athletic Boosters will facilitate a sports equipment exchange for gently used gear to trade or sell. In addition, there will be a separate collection of donated sports equipment for the tornado-damaged Page Middle School in Gloucester, VA. The exchange and collection will take place from 5:30pm until 6:30pm, immediately before the panel discussion.
