Fairfax County Announces No Change To Trash And Recycling Collection

Trash and recycling in Fairfax county will not change during the holidays, however city offices will be closed.

From Fairfax County Trash: Please be advised that there will be no change in the trash and recycling collection schedule for Friday, December 23 and during the week of December 26 – December 30, 2016 because Christmas Day is on a Sunday this year.

In order to ensure that all trash/recycling is collected please make sure that all materials are at the street line by 6 AM on your regular collection day.

Our administrative office will be closed on Friday, December 23 and Monday December 26 for the Christmas holiday. The office will reopen at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.

The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) will both close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 24 and will both be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2016.

Please be advised that there will be no change in the trash and recycling collection schedule during the week of January 2-January 6, 2017 because New Year’s Day is on a Sunday this year.

Our administrative office will be closed Monday January 2 for the New Year’s holiday. The office will reopen at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, January 3.

Christmas Tree Disposal

Christmas trees will be collected during the first two weeks of January for recycling (January 2 – 13, 2017). Lights, decorations and stands must be removed to ensure collection. A brush pickup will need to be scheduled for Christmas trees put out after Jan. 13.
