Fairfax County Is Best Place To Retire In Virginia: Report
The study cited Fairfax County's economic benefits and plentiful things to do for retirees.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—Fairfax County isn't a stranger to top places to live in Virginia rankings due to factors like quality schools and family-friendly entertainment. A new ranking suggests it's also the ideal spot to retire.
SmartAsset, a financial planning website, ranked Fairfax County first as the best place to live in Virginia. The site compiled places that not only offer parks, healthcare access, retirement-based recreation centers and other attractions for retirees to enjoy, but financial benefits for retirees to get the most out of retirement income and savings.
The state overall is tax-friendly for retirees, especially since Social Security benefits aren't taxed. "Though the state is generally a good place for retirees to put down stakes, some locations are better than others," the study stated.

The study cites Fairfax County's plentiful parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and other features to keep retirees entertained. The county scores well on healthcare access with plentiful medical centers. On top of that, the region presents tax savings when compared to big cities.
"Fairfax County is definitely the place to retire in if you love the outdoors and still want some action in your life," SmartAsset says.
