MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Community Center is filling its July calendar with free outdoor concerts, live theater and weekly family activities as part of its summer programming. Highlights include the final five performances in the center's Summer Concert Series at McLean Central Park Amphitheatre, a production of the Tony Award-winning musical 1776 and weekly game nights at the Old Firehouse Center.

July 2: Still Surfin' — A Tribute to the Beach Boys
The Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, July 2, at 7 p.m. with Still Surfin' — A Tribute to the Beach Boys at the McLean Central Park Amphitheatre. The free performance is part of the community center's Thursday evening concert series, which runs through July 30.

Every Wednesday In July: Open Game Nights
Residents can visit the Old Firehouse Center, 1440 Chain Bridge Road, on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for Open Game Nights. Activities include table tennis, bridge, mah-jongg, arcade games and a sensory lab. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
July 9: One Hit Wonderers
The free Summer Concert Series returns Thursday, July 9, at 7 p.m. with One Hit Wonderers, featuring songs from artists known for their chart-topping hits.

July 16: EU (Experience Unlimited)
Go-go band EU (Experience Unlimited) takes the amphitheater stage Thursday, July 16, at 7 p.m. as part of the free concert series.
July 17-Aug. 2: 1776
The McLean Community Players will present the Tony Award-winning musical 1776 during weekend performances from July 17 through Aug. 2 at the Alden Theatre. Evening performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25, with discounts available for seniors and McLean tax district residents. The production is recommended for all ages.

July 23: Uptown
The Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. with Uptown, performing music celebrating classic city sounds. The concert is free and open to the public.
July 30: Koo Koo
The concert series concludes Thursday, July 30, at 7 p.m. with Koo Koo, a family-friendly act described by the McLean Community Center as "Beastie Boys meet Sesame Street."
Most events are held at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., unless otherwise noted. The Summer Concert Series takes place at the McLean Central Park Amphitheatre, and Open Game Nights are held at the Old Firehouse Center. Residents of McLean Community Center's Small District 1A-Dranesville are eligible for discounts on applicable programs. Current event information is available on the McLean Community Center website.
