Fairfax County Firefighters to Distribute Winter Coats for Kids

Coats will be given to children in need next week at Fire and Rescue Station No. 11 in the Penn Daw community in greater Alexandria.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will distribute winter coats for children at 11 a.m. Oct. 30 in Alexandria. The event will take place at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station No. 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace.

Fairfax County firefighters cooperated with Operation Warm, the Coats for Kids Foundation, Apple Federal Credit Union, Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County and Fairfax County Professional Firefighters and Paramedics to collect and distribute winter coats for young children and high school students in need.

Captain William Bailey organizes the coat drive every year along with the schools supplies drive in the summer and the toy drive during the holiday season. During their recent backpack drive, Bailey said it's important to make sure Fairfax youth have everything they need to succeed.
