Fairfax County Superintendent Search Town Halls To Be Held Virtually

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — With the nationwide search for a new Fairfax County Public Schools superintendent in progress, virtual town halls are coming up to gather feedback. Superintendent Scott Brabrand previously announced he will leave the school district at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

The public and FCPS employees can attend virtual town halls to give feedback on what characteristics the next superintendent should have. One of the meetings is for FCPS employees only, but all other meetings are open to FCPS residents.

Residents can register for any of these meetings:

• Wednesday, Jan. 12: Noon-1 p.m.: General audience with Spanish, Korean and Arabic interpretation services available
• Wednesday, Jan. 12: 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.: Spanish-language meeting
• Thursday, Jan. 13: 6 p.m.-7 p.m.: Regions 4 and 5 with Spanish, Korean and Arabic interpretation services available
• Thursday, Jan. 13: 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.: Regions 1 and 2 with Spanish, Korean and Arabic interpretation services available
• Tuesday, Jan. 18: 6 p.m.-7 p.m.: Region 3 with Spanish, Korean and Arabic interpretation services available

FCPS employees only can register for the following meeting:

• Tuesday, Jan. 18, 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.: FCPS employees

Another way to provide feedback is the online superintendent search survey through Jan. 18. The survey asks respondents about characteristics the superintendent should have.

The next superintendent is expected to be chosen in time to assume the role on July 1, 2022. Search firm GR Recruiting is conducting the search for candidates.
