Many McLean residents may not know that just down the block from downtown McLean, right next to McLean High School, sits a hidden gem of a summer club. One with an elite swim team, including Olympic Trial-level swimmers, four tennis courts, world-class tennis professionals, and over an acre of green space. For over 60 years, this little slice of heaven sits at Margie Drive and Sea Cliff - the McLean Swim and Tennis Associations.
McLean Swim & Tennis Association (MSTA) has recently finished a number of significant upgrades to their facilities and programs for the upcoming summer season. The tennis program has hired a new tennis professional, Pros to You, to oversee the club’s tennis programs. They have already started the spring season with numerous exciting programs, including summer camps for kids. With Pros to You, MSTA is again sponsoring a team for the Tyson’s Cup Junior Team Tennis League and participate in USTA’s Junior Team Tennis. MSTA is excited to have Pros to You offering a wide array of lessons from beginners to the most experienced player.
On the swim side, MSTA has a heated pool, allowing swimmers to enjoy comfy swimming in the early chilly mornings of summer and the cooler nights of late August. MSTA is also home to the Marlins, a perennial Division I participant in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL). The MSTA Marlins are the proud home of a number of Olympic Trial swimmers, as well as countless Division I, II, and III collegiate swimmers. The entire coaching staff – made up of former and current Marlin swimmers - is back again this summer to work with the young swimmers, from beginners (ages 4 and up) to elite. From private swim lessons, to the future Marlins, thru the swim team, MSTA has invested to make sure that every young swimmer has a chance to enjoy a great summer at the pool.

In addition, MSTA have over one acre of green space - providing play for all ages - including four square, basketball, volleyball, soccer nets, and a jungle gym. Grill master? No worries, MSTA has a number of grills for you to pack up the cooler and come over in the evening and grill the family dinner. And if you have a birthday or party plans for the summer, MSTA has a back patio or our tennis pavilion you can rent for 3 hours and enjoy some time celebrating with family and friends.
