Police Release Identity Of Bicyclist Killed Wedneday In McLean Crash: Update
Fairfax County Police detectives released the identity of the victim in Wednesday's fatal crash involving a bicyclist in McLean.

MCLEAN, VA — Fairfax County Policed identified Matthew Jaeger, 33, of McLean as the bicyclist who died in the crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Dolley Madison Boulevard and Ingleside Avenue in McLean.
Following a preliminary investigation, Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives determined Jaeger was heading east on Ingleside Avenue when he entered the intersection of Dolley Madison Boulevard. Detectives believe Jaeger was then struck by a 2014 BMW 328xi traveling south on Dolley Madison Boulevard.

Jaeger was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. This is the third fatality involving a bicyclist in Fairfax County in 2021.
Police say that the driver of the BMW remained at the scene of the crash. At this time, detectives do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. The detectives will present their findings for review by the Commonwealth's Attorney
