Fire and Rescue Units Respond to Fire in McLean High-Rise
Firefighters managed to put out a fire in a sixth-floor apartment at a 26-story high-rise Thursday night. No injuries were reported.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to a high-rise fire at 8421 Broad Street in McLean Thursday evening, the department reported Friday.
Units arrived on the scene at approximately 8:10 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from a sixth-floor balcony in the 26-story residential building at that address.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire with an aggressive approach from the exterior of the building. They determined the cause of the fire to be improperly discarded smoking materials.

Three residents were home when the fire started, but managed to escape the apartment unharmed. No injuries were reported on the scene.
The fire reportedly caused about $500 in damages, but will not displace the residents at that address.
