Dog Dies After Fire Starts At McLean Home
Five residents were displaced after the fire, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

MCLEAN, VA — A dog died and five people were displaced in a McLean house fire Wednesday morning, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
The fire broke out in the 6800 block of Old Chesterbrook Road around 10:44 a.m. A neighbor discovered the fire and flagged down a police officer. The residents were not home, and no firefighters were injured. Firefighters found the deceased dog in the basement, where the fire originated.
The fire department said the basement fire extended to other floors, and crews worked to contain and put out the fire. Damages were estimated to be $100,000.

Fire investigators were on scene to examine the cause of the blaze. The cause remains under investigation.
The displaced residents declined Red Cross assistance.
