A dog was trapped under a deck for two days when Fairfax County firefighters rescued him.

GREAT FALLS, VA -- A family in Great Falls had a happy reunion when Fairfax County firefighters rescued their dog trapped under a deck for two days. The family reported reported their 60 pound pointer Banx was trapped under the house on Thursday, June 1.

Firefighters on scene found the home's deck was less than three inches off the ground and gravel was in the base underneath. When firefighters could not immediately see or hear the dog, they began removing boards from the deck.

Eventually the firefighters heard a whine and removed additional boards and buckets full of gravel. They were able to spot the dog and get him food and water while clearing more gravel blocking the way.
