Fourth Of July 2017: What's Open, Closed In McLean

Here's a breakdown of what is open and closed on Fourth of July in McLean.

MCLEAN, VA — Fairfax County government offices will be closed Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 for Independence Day, as well as libraries and schools. But services like public transit and recreation centers will operate, although on a different schedule.

Here are the openings/closings to be aware of in McLean on Fourth of July. Closures only occurring on July 4 are noted.

County offices: closed

State Offices and courts: closed

Fairfax County Public Schools and administrative offices: closed

Pools: Highlands Swim & Tennis Club: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Chesterbrook Swim & Tennis Club: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Hamlet Swim & Tennis Club: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. McLean Swim & Tennis Association: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Kent Gardens Recreation Club: 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Fireworks: McLean's annual fireworks show is held at Churchill Road Elementary School (7100 Churchill Rd). The free, annual event also features a live DJ and food trucks. The event will open at 6:30 p.m.

Fairfax Connector: Buses will operate on a normal schedule on July 3. Buses will operate on a Saturday schedule on July 4.

Fastran: Fastran will not operate on July 3 or July 4.

Libraries: closed

Metrorail: Information available at www.wmata.com

Parking – Parking is free at park and ride locations and Metro parking lots.

Community Centers: McLean Community Center will be closed. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed on Saturday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 4.

Recreation Centers: Rec centers will have regular hours on July 3. Rec centers will close at 4 p.m. on July 4. The only Rec Center closed both days is George Washington RECenter.

Parks: Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Site are open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on July 3 and closed on July 4. E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows Nature Centers are open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on July 3 and closed on July 4. Riverbend Park Visitor Center will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. Frying Pan Farm Park will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on July 3. It will close early at 3 p.m. on July 4. Green Spring Gardens ' Horticultural Center will be open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on July 3 and noon-4:30 p.m. on July 4. The Historic House will be closed both days.

Recycling – I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) will be closed July 4.

Trash Pickup: Contact individual Fairfax County and private service providers for holiday hours.

Liquor stores – All Virginia ABC stores will close at 6 p.m.
