Free Admission Day At Virginia National Parks Coming Up

National Park Week 2019 will kick off with a free admission day at Great Falls and other parks with entrance fees.

MCLEAN, VA—National Park Week 2019 will kick off with free admission to national parks on Saturday, April 20. That includes national parks, monuments, historic sites and federally managed areas, including Great Falls Park.

Admission to Great Falls is normally $7 per person or $15 per car, and the pass is good for seven consecutive days. Great Falls Park offers has a number of hiking trails, picnic areas, overlooks of the Potomac River falls and visitor center. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset and the visitor center is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Colonial National Historical Park: Yorktown, VA
  • Prince William Forest Park: Triangle, VA
  • Shenandoah National Park

Visitors can celebrate National Park Week from April 20-28. The National Park Service said there will be a variety of special programs and events at parks across the country.

Aside from April 20, there will be free admission to national parks on other dates: Aug. 25, Sept. 28 and Nov. 11.
