Fruit Flies In Bar Area Of Tysons Restaurant Reported: Health Inspection
Inspectors from the Fairfax County Health Department found violations at five of the McLean area eateries they visited in February.
MCLEAN, VA — Fairfax County Health Department inspectors reported finding critical violations at five of the 13 food establishments in McLean and Tysons they visited in February.
Based on health department inspection records for February, the following restaurants in McLean and Tysons were cited for health code violations.
- Amoo's House of Kabob, 6271 Old Dominion Drive, McLean. During a Feb. 11 inspection, the restaurant was cited for "Food-contact surfaces: cleaned & sanitized." The inspector observed that the chemical sanitizer in the three-compartment sink was not at the required concentration. [View Report]
- Coastal Flats, 7860-L Tysons Corner Center, Tysons. A Feb. 5 inspection resulted in a violation for "Proper cold holding temperatures." Several items in the salad prep cooler, including cut leafy greens and diced tomatoes, were measured above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. [View Report]
- Earls Kitchen + Bar, 7902 Tysons Corner Center, Tysons. An inspector visited Feb. 12 and cited the establishment for "Management, food employee and conditional employee; knowledge, responsibilities and reporting." The person in charge was unable to provide documentation of employee health training. [View Report]
- Founding Farmers Tysons, 1800 Tysons Blvd., Tysons. During a Feb. 9 inspection, the restaurant received a violation for "Proper date marking and disposition." Multiple containers of house-made sauces and soups in the walk-in refrigerator were found without the required seven-day discard dates. [View Report]
- P.F. Chang's, 1716M Tysons Corner Center, Tysons. An inspector visited Feb. 14 and recorded a violation for "Insects, rodents, and animals not present." The report noted evidence of fruit flies in the bar area and near the floor drains in the kitchen. [View Report]
The following establishments were also inspected in February in these areas but had no critical violations reported at the time of the visit: Bazin’s on Church (Feb. 18), Caprese (Feb. 24), Eddie V's Prime Seafood (Feb. 19), J. Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood (Feb. 26), Lost Dog Cafe (Feb. 3), Maggiano's Little Italy (Feb. 20), and The Palm (Feb. 25).
