Group Of Men Caught With Stolen Goods In Tysons Arrest

Three officers were injured when trying to take the men into custody at the mall, police say.

TYSONS, VA—Three men are facing charges after an attempt to shoplift turned into a chaotic arrest at Tysons Corner Center Monday.

Around 7:57 p.m., two men were spotted taking concealed merchandise. When Tysons Urban Team officers tried to detain them, they resisted. Three other people got involved and interfered with the arrest.

All five were taken into custody, and three officers had minor injuries from the encounter. Two of the arrested men were evaluated for injuries by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue medics.

Two of the arrested were juveniles and had been released to their parents. Abdias Umana, 20, of Hyattsville Md. was charged with petit larceny, two counts of obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. Cameron Reeder, 18, of Landover Hills Md. was charged with obstruction of justice and two counts of petit larceny. Jairo Martinez, 19, of Hyattsville Md. was charged with two counts of obstruction of justice and one count of disorderly conduct.
