House Fire Causes $45,000 in Damage in McLean

Investigators say a house fire Monday afternoon in McLean was accidental. The home’s two residents have been displaced.
Crews responded at 1:45 p.m. Monday to the home at 1914 Kirby Road.

“Firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the roof of the two-story home upon arrival,” according to a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue release.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, reporting moderate damage to both the first and second floors of the home.

No one was home when the fire broke out and there were no smoke alarms in the home, according to fire officials.
One firefighter sustained a non-life threatening injury.
Damage to the home is estimated at $45,000.
According to investigators, the fire was caused by an anomaly in the electrical wiring to the furnace.
