Crash Closes Part Of Major McLean Road, Causes Outages

Georgetown Pike has reopened after a downed power pole caused delays on the road for much of the day.

MCLEAN, VA—A crash on Georgetown Pike Tuesday morning brought down a power pole and resulted in delays through much the day.

Eastbound Georgetown Pike was closed from Swinks Mill Road to Georgetown Court as Dominion Energy replaces the power pole, Fairfax County Police say. Traffic maps indicated traffic was backed up near the intersection, which is just west of the Capital Beltway.

Traffic is being redirected from eastbound Georgetown Pike to Swinks Mill Road then to Old Dominion Drive. Drivers should follow police direction in the area or seek alternate routes.

The downed power pole left 73 customers without power until Dominion Energy replaced it by the afternoon.

The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. and caused delays through the mid-afternoon. There was no word on if anyone was injured in the original crash.
