Jayson Werth Sentenced to 10 Days for Speeding 105 mph
Washington Nationals outfielder was driving in 55-mph zone on Interstate 495, according to reports.

Washington Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth was found guilty Friday of reckless driving and sentenced to 10 days in jail.
A state trooper testified that Werth was driving in excess of 105 mph in a 55-mph zone on Interstate 495 near the George Washington Parkway exit, according to The Washington Post.
“495 is not a racetrack,” Fairfax County General District Court Judge Penney Azcarate said.

Werth told the court he didn’t know how fast he was going, but disputed that he went over 100 mph, according to ESPN. His attorney said he plans to appeal the conviction.
ESPN notes that Werth would likely only serve five days of the sentence.
