July 4th 2018: What's Open, Closed In McLean
The unofficial middle of summer holiday is coming up. Here's a breakdown of what's open and closed.

MCLEAN, VA—Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday this year, and many services normally open will be closed for the mid-week holiday.
Fairfax County offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4. However, services like the recreation centers, parks and Metro will be open, although on a different schedule.

Fairfax County Offices: Closed Fourth of July.

State Offices: Commonwealth of Virginia offices in Fairfax County will be closed on Fourth of July, including Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
McLean Community Center: Closed Fourth of July.
Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Fourth of July. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/ for more information. Fastran will not operate on July 4.
Libraries: Closed on July 4.

Metrorail: The system will open at 7 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m. Parking will be free at all Metro parking facilities, and off-peak fares will be in effect all day. No track work is scheduled. Riders are not permitted to bring bicycles and large coolers.
Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday schedule. Expect detours around the National Mall. See bus timetables.
Parking: Parking is free at park and ride locations and Metro parking lots.
Parks: Colvin Run Mill, Sully Historic Site, E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows are closed. Riverbend Park's visitor center is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park farm is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m., the visitor center is open 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and indoor arena is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Green Spring Gardens Horticultural Center is open noon-4:30 p.m. For more information, visit fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/holiday-hours.
Recreation and Arts Centers: All recreation centers are open at the regular time to 4 p.m. except George Washington RECenter, which is closed.
Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) are closed on July 4.
Trash and Recycling: Contact individual Fairfax County and private service providers for holiday hours.
