Local Bank Hosting School Supply Drive for At-Risk Youth

The drive will take place on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Giant Food located along Chain Bridge Road in McLean.

A local bank is collecting school supplies to support one of the area’s only emergency centers for at-risk kids.

Bank of Georgetown is hosting a school supplies drive at the Giant Food location along Chain Bridge Road in McLean on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. until noon.

The supplies will be donated to Alternative House, Northern Virginia’s largest refuge for runaway, homeless abused and at-risk youth. Through Alternative House, the supplies will reach kids involved with the Culmore Teen Center, the Annandale Safe Youth Project and the Culmore Safe Youth Project as they prepare to go back to school.

Volunteers are accepting all school supplies, but are in particular need of:

  • Backpacks
  • Lined paper
  • Dividers
  • Glue sticks
  • Flash cards
  • Crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • 3-ring binders
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Markers
  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Calculators

The drive is part of “Give Back: Tenfold,” Bank of Georgetown’s 10th anniversary community service program that will support 10 of the local nonprofits to which employees volunteer their time and resources.
