Local Charity to hold Computer Drive; Seeking Tax-Deductible Donations of Used Machines
Make a tax-deductible donation of computers and accessories/peripherals including Windows and OS X machines this Saturday, July 25th.
McLean, VA – Share, Inc. of McLean is holding a computer drive as part of a Boy Scout Eagle Project at the McLean Baptist Church this Saturday, July 25th from 9:30am to 1:30pm for collection of used computers to refurbish and distribute to local families in economic distress.
Share is a charity in McLean which aids families struggling economically by providing them with food, clothing, family & economic aid, computers, and more. Operating since 1969, Share currently serves over 300 local families within the Northern Virginia area.
Share’s computer program refurbishes computers and distributes them to clients whom would, otherwise, be unable to afford the technology. The recent influx in computer requests by Share’s families has created shortages in our inventory, and donations are needed to help support Share’s program.

It’s not just computers (both Windows and Mac running Windows Vista, 7, 8, or OS X) that Share is looking for, either. In fact, Share accepts LCD monitors, CD/DVD (optical) drives, cables (VGA, Ethernet, power, etc.), wireless networking cards and adapters, computer components (e.g. graphics, sound, video, and network cards, memory, power supplies, etc.), operating system and Microsoft Office installation/restore disks, hard drives (120gb+) and solid-state drives, keyboards/mice, and speakers.
It is important to note that Share only accepts computers (working or broken) originally shipped with Windows Vista, 7, 8, or OS X. Share also cannot accept printers or CRT monitors.
Share, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. They can provide you with a tax-deductible receipt for your donation.
Furthermore, all of the data on donated computers are securely formatted, making sure that no one will be able to access important files or documents on any donated computers. Share will even format the hard drives on-site if requested.
