McLean Community Center Seeks Candidates For 2022 Board Election
The 2022 governing board election will begin with candidates submitting petitions for adult and youth seats.

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Community Center is seeking candidates for the 2022-2023 governing board to kick off the election process.
The 11-member governing board sets policies and budget for the McLean Community Center as well as provides oversight for programs and facilities. Members include nine adult members and two youth members. Members must live in the McLean Community Center boundaries (Small District 1A-Dranesville).
The 2022 election will decide three adult board seats and two youth seats. Adult members serve three-year terms, and youth members serve one-year terms. Adults must be 18 or older as of May 15, 2021. Youth members must be 15 to 17 on May 21, 2022. The youth members each come from McLean High School boundaries and Langley High School boundaries but do not need to attend those schools.

Starting Wednesday, Jan. 19, candidates seeking a seat on the board can pick up candidate petition packets during business hours at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, Mclean, VA. For those who are uncomfortable entering the building, call 703-744-9348 during business hours to schedule a time for staff to deliver a candidate packet to your vehicle in the McLean Community Center parking lot.
Each candidate must obtain 10 signatures from Small District 1A-Dranesville residents and submit candidacy information for publication. Youth candidates must submit 10 signatures from teens aged 15 to 17 as of May 21, 2022. The deadline for returning candidate petitions is 5 p.m. on March 11.

Before voting begins, check back for election information on the MCC website, e-newsletters, social media and the winter-spring MCC Program Guide. Early voting will begin in person and by mail on March 16. Residents may contact MCC to request ballots to be mailed to their household. Open voting will continue through 5 p.m. on May 18. The last chance for in-person voting will be McLean Day at Lewinsville Park on Saturday, May 21.
Election results will be announced in the days following McLean Day. The new members will be sworn in at the June 8 governing board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
